ProBASE Wingsuit RACE 2011

The final ProBASE season event, the ProBASE Wingsuit RACE 2011, is just around the corner. Whats new, who´s there and what to expect?

The event, which goes into its third year, started with a bit of trouble on the organizers part after we lost our landing field. However on the intervention of local BASE Jumpers Martin Schuermann and Johnny Amberger from the BASE House Stechelberg, we found an alternative option and the event can stay in Stechelberg.

Johnny was also the man who put a lot of work into the organization locally, bringing local businesses to the event and thus creating a positiv environment. The event field will feature stands from the local "Schuetzenverein", Patagonia and ProBASE as well as a Helicopter on display from Air Glaciers. After jumping finishes, the event will continue at the BASE House with entertainment and a full bar, so that jumpers, spectators and everyone else can enjoy themselves and have a relaxed evening.

The competition mode will be slightly adjusted this year with 2 semi final rounds instead of just one, which is intended to keep the race as competitiv as possible up to the very end. The timing system has also been improved by using a professional timing unit sponsored by TAG Heuer.

From the jumper´s side we are glad to have most of last years top contenders onboard, including 2nd and 3rd placed Matthias Wyss and Ludo Woerth, as well as local Oliver Furrer, one of the secret favorites this year, and also the official representativ of the main Sponsor, APEX BASE.

Last and most importantly we will crown the first overall ProBASE World Champion, who will win a full one year Sponsorship by APEX BASE, the jumper who scored the most points throughout the entire Tour this season. In the lead at the moment is the "Lauterbrunnen local" finnish born Rami Kajala who won the last event, the ProBASE BEACH Challenge in Greece.

On sunday we´ll bring another novelty with the TEAM EVENT, a target landing competition, where 3 members of each team can score points.

Looking forward to a safe and fun event and anyone who has time and wants to enjoy a weekend of BASE Jumping or BASE watching is invited to attend!

Cya all in the valley!!!!
