ProBASE Wingsuit Race Program

The ProBASE organization has worked out a detailed program for the 3 days of the event to let the athletes, spectators and members of the press know when what is happening where. This program is due to slight changes in case of weather related delays.

 

Thursday October 22nd: The ramp will be mounted and the pilots can familiarize themselves with the exit, the flight route, the finish line and landing area. Jumping is allowed all day and the cable car pass is valid form thursday on.

 

Friday October 23rd: 9am start of the first competition round, 11.30am 2nd competition round and 3.30pm 3rd competition round. In between rounds there will be demo shows of paragliders, acro flyers and skydivers to entertain the public.

Saturday October 24th: 9am start of the 4th and last qualification round, followed by the announcement of the 16 semi finalists and a press conference at 11.30 am. After another demo show the semi final round will be flown at 12.30pm and after announcing the 8 finalists the final round starts at 3.30pm followed by the award giving ceremony. A final press conference at 4.30pm will conclude the official part of the event.

At 8.00pm we invite everyone to join us at the Hotel Horner for the final event party!

Parking: Parking is provided at the Schilthorn parking lot for 3 CHF per day.

Spectators: Spectator area will be installed right next to the landing area so that everyone can follow the action as close as possible. The exit platform and fhe flight route is perfectly visible from the bottom and thus spectators, media and press can follow the entire competition from start to finish.

Admission:  Admission to the event is free.

What is Base jumping ?

BASE jumping is the activity of parachuting from a fixed object as opposed to skydiving, which is parachuting from an aircraft. Fixed objects can be buildings, antennas, smoke stacks, bridges, power towers, cliffs, cable cars, dams or any other object high enough to jump from.
