Austrian Team ARGON took home the prestigious Golden Peak award at the Nissan Outdoor Games 2010 in Chamonix, France! Click here to watch the winning film!
The event, the most prestigious extreme sport film competition in the world, is being held twice a year, once in the summer and once in the winter. The total price money awarded was 32.000 euro, split amongst the teams, the winning team taking the lion's share. After a tough week, each team had only 5 days to complete a 5 minute film including 5 extreme sports, the jury chose Austrian Team Argon's film as the winner. In their film, the main character is a supernatural being who has powers upon the earth. He uses these powers for evil causes to try to control forces of nature and their effect on humans. He wants to leave his mark on humanity before leaving this world though in the end humans prevail.
The Team, who participated for the 4th time at the event and had already won the golden peak at last years winter edition, put together an astounding team of the best of their countries athletes as well as technical crew to put the project together. All the filming, post production and music composing was done onsite, the team's Head Quarters being a luxury apartment complex in Vallorcine.
ProBASE co-organizers Mirko Schmidt and Hubert Schober, who contributed as BASE jumpers on the team, report of one of the "toughest weeks we can remember". 3 hour hikes in sweltering 35 degree heat in order to get to the exit point we filmed the BASE sequence from. A highlite of their week was a difficult stunt using a tandem paraglider to land with a photographer on an otherwise inaccessible ledge on the moutain in order to get a priceless shot of a flyby in a wingsuit. "Something like this you can only do at the Outdoor Games, where you really work with the best of the best" Mirko commented.
